Zach Wallis is a licensed private investigator with a distinguished 14-year career in law enforcement and specialized tactical operations. He began his service in 2010 as a Reserve Deputy with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, was hired as a Deputy with the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in 2011, and joined the Billings Police Department in 2013. As a Field Training Officer with Billings PD, he trained new officers in criminal investigations, officer safety, and professional report writing.

In 2014, Mr. Wallis enlisted in the Montana Army National Guard as an 11B Infantryman, advancing to Team Leader and assuming responsibility for the training, readiness, and welfare of his soldiers. In 2017, he was selected for the department’s SWAT team, where he executed high-risk law enforcement operations. He later served as the Sniper Team Leader, developing and instructing sniper deployment tactics and authoring sniper policy.

Beyond tactical leadership, Mr. Wallis contributed to agency development and community safety. In 2022, he assisted the City of Billings in standing up the Community Service Officer program, enabling trained civilian staff to handle lower-priority calls and improving patrol response to in-progress incidents. He has instructed at the academy as a SWAT Basic Instructor and trained officers statewide in Quick Reaction Force (QRF) doctrine.

Mr. Wallis has completed advanced training in roadside impairment/DUI investigations, deception detection for interviews, and multiple advanced sniper courses. Over his career, he has been involved in dozens of critical incidents, executed hundreds of high-risk search warrants on violent offenders, and investigated hundreds of felony cases. Through his LE career, Mr. Wallis has earned the Medal Of Valor and the Life saving Award.

In November 2024, Mr. Wallis left the Billings Police Department to pursue a new path as a private investigator. He now serves as the investigator for attorneys all over the state of MT providing meticulous, fact-driven support for complex criminal and civil matters. He is a certified PORAC investigator and travels statewide to assist officers involved in critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings.

Today, Zach Wallis leverages his operational experience, instructional background, and investigative acumen to deliver discreet, precise, and actionable results for legal teams, businesses, and private clients. His work is defined by professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to uncovering the truth.
